Beginners Quilting

Our beginner quilting class will be on alternate Saturdays for 3 sessions.

You will make a small throw quilt, finishing at about  48" x 58"
You will learn:

  • About quilt fabrics and their characteristics.
  • About the parts off a quilt and basic assembly.
  • The importance of an accurate seam allowance and how to achieve it.
  • To relax and enjoy the process of quilting

Fabric requirements are:
  •     1 yard Focus fabric (floral or large print)
  •     (2) 1  yard cuts of coordinating fabric
  •     1 1/2 yard wide fabric for backing or 3 yards 45" wide fabric

Materials Included: Pattern for the quilt
Requirements: What you will need: You will need to bring your own sewing machine, along with the attachments that came with the machine and the instructions. You should be able to wind and load the bobbin, thread your machine, and sew a (more or less) straight line. You will also need standard sewing notions:  Scissors  Seam gauge or small ruler  Seam ripper  Extra bobbins  Straight pins If you have quilting supplies, please bring them as well. To make the quilt, you will use a rotary cutter, mat, and rulers. A 1/4" presser foot will also be helpful to help gauge your seam allowance.
